Brewstead Account & Data Deletion Policy

How account deletion, recovery windows, retention exceptions, and inactivity work

Version 0.1 | Prepared: August 22, 2026 | Effective upon first public publication of this version

1. Anonymous Use

Some Free Brewstead use may occur under an anonymous account identity without a verified email. Anonymous users may have cloud-synced data, but Brewstead may be unable to identify or recover an anonymous account if the device or anonymous credentials are lost. Brewstead may make a reasonable recovery attempt where feasible, but recovery is not guaranteed.

Anonymous cloud identities and associated data may become eligible for automatic deletion after approximately 24 months of inactivity.

2. Scheduled Account Deletion

A registered user may choose to schedule account deletion. Brewstead intends to retain the account in a recoverable state for up to 90 days and to display the scheduled permanent-deletion date. During that recovery period, the user may cancel deletion by completing the recovery process, such as signing back in or otherwise verifying control of the account.

A scheduled deletion is a temporary recovery period, not a substitute for permanent deletion. If the user does not cancel, Brewstead will proceed with permanent deletion after the scheduled date, subject to the limited retention exceptions below.

3. Immediate Permanent Deletion

A registered user who does not want the recovery period may request immediate permanent deletion. Brewstead may require recent authentication or another ownership-verification step before completing a sensitive deletion request. Brewstead will provide a clear warning that the user's recipes, brews, media, and other user content normally cannot be restored after permanent deletion is completed.

Permanent account deletion may end access to account-linked paid entitlements and does not automatically create a refund right. If you have an active paid entitlement and are uncertain about the effect of deletion, contact Brewstead before completing permanent deletion.

4. What Is Deleted

When permanent deletion is completed, Brewstead deletes or de-identifies the account and associated user content from active systems, including user-created recipes, brews, media, account profile data, and other ordinary service data associated with the account, except for information that Brewstead has a legitimate reason to retain as described below.

5. Limited Information That May Be Retained

Brewstead may retain limited information after account deletion when reasonably necessary for legal or legitimate purposes, including:

  • transaction, tax, refund, and accounting records for up to 7 years or longer if required by law or a pending matter;
  • payment-dispute or chargeback records;
  • security, fraud, permanent paid-access restriction, enforcement, and audit records needed to protect Brewstead or users and preserve audit integrity;
  • records preserved in response to valid legal process, litigation hold, or lawful preservation request; and
  • temporary residual copies in restricted disaster-recovery backups until those backups expire under Brewstead's normal backup cycle.

These retained records are not intended to function as a hidden active copy of the deleted user's recipe or brewing library.

6. Disaster-Recovery Backups

Deleted information may remain temporarily inside restricted disaster-recovery backups until those backups expire. Brewstead does not intend to restore a deleted account merely because an older backup contains residual data. If a disaster-recovery restoration reintroduces data that had previously been deleted, Brewstead intends to reapply the applicable deletion state as part of the recovery process.

7. Inactive Registered Accounts

Registered Free account content may be moved to an archived or lower-cost state after approximately 3 years of inactivity. A registered account may become eligible for permanent deletion after approximately 7 years of inactivity, with reasonable advance notice where Brewstead has a usable contact email. A paid Pro entitlement will not be automatically deleted solely for inactivity while that paid entitlement remains active.

8. Data Export Before Deletion

Brewstead intends to provide registered users a way to obtain their user-created data in a reasonably usable format before deletion. If automated export is not yet available, Brewstead may provide another reasonable request process.

9. How to Request Deletion or Privacy Assistance

Until Brewstead implements a dedicated self-service web deletion workflow, account/data deletion or privacy assistance may be requested at homebrewingapp@gmail.com. Brewstead may verify account control before acting on a sensitive request. Brewstead will update its website with a direct deletion resource before any app-store distribution that requires one.

10. Refunds Are Separate

Account deletion and refunds are separate. Deleting an account does not automatically trigger a refund, and receiving a refund does not automatically delete an account or user-created data. See the Brewstead Refund Policy for refund rules.
